Subject: HX-5B Experience

As promised I have enclosed two pictures of the temporary installation of the beam. As you can see it is up about 12 feet, lower than the house and near trees. Please feel free to use the picture as you wish. If you want the negatives please let me know.

Operating Configuration:
ICOM 735 - Power about 100 watts
No antenna tuner - SWR less than 2:1

Operating Experience:
Casual operation for about 7 weeks - Worked 65 countries
Often asked about the beam - Easy to work pileups

From the results you can see I am really pleased with the beam. I can hardly wait to get it up 55 feet. Working DX is now real easy. I am at the point that if I do not get a reply on the first call I wonder what is wrong!

As mentioned on the phone I am seriously considering another 5B for Grenada next winter.
